It's that hectic time of the year
In some ways it's nice
Constant listing
the hours pass
more is left undone

Thunderstorms last night
the sky was light
the thunder a growling noise
a barking bruit
lightning flash before my eyes
in my mosaic of five
from below
i curl and watch
undulating waves of consciousness
pulling me back to darkness
awaking in the cold

if i say i want you back
i'd be a lier
but inside the ashes burn to endless fire
and i can't sleep
